What is ceramic type glow plug?

A ceramic type glow plug is a type of ignition device used in diesel engines. It is designed to preheat the combustion chamber to facilitate the ignition of the air-fuel mixture.

The ceramic glow plug consists of a heating element enclosed in a ceramic sheath. When an electrical current is applied, the heating element heats up, and the ceramic sheath retains and radiates the heat into the combustion chamber.

Ceramic glow plugs offer several advantages over traditional metal glow plugs. They have a faster heating response, reaching higher temperatures more quickly. This helps in cold starting, improving engine performance and reducing emissions. Ceramic glow plugs also have a longer lifespan and are more resistant to corrosion and fouling.
